The members were today guests of the Rob Austin BTCC Racing team, as they prepared for the weekends race meet at Silverstone in the British Touring Car Championships.
Our last visit to Silverstone was excellent, but today it was great to see behind the scenes of a live race team in preparation, visit their garage and have a Q&A with the driver, Rob Austin. Great hospitality and networking.

Our first breakfast meeting after the Summer Holidays and a slightly different speaker.
Our speaker was Phil Walsh of Walsh Learning To Achieve. He facilitated a Business Simulation Game and took us through the benefits of such. The experience highlighted the financial impact for a business of starting, purchasing equipment, bidding for orders and managing cashflow.

This months tour visit event was a visit to A Day in the Country, a corporate events, team building and conference venue based in Aynho. After a welcome by out hosts, we were taken on a tour of the barn and grounds, to see the extend of experiences available at the venue, which are also a licensed wedding venue. After the tour, we took part in two team building experiences, including a timed event with the Rage Buggies. A venue certainly recommended and I am sure many members will be back.

Wow what a great breakfast. 29 local businesses represented and a great vibe in the room. After the usual great breakfast in the deli at Blake Morgan, we enjoyed a fantastic presentation from Juston Jackson of Digital Remit. Together with Enterprise Nation, Justin has just won a contract with Oxfordshire Business Support to run workshops for start ups in Oxfordshire. He spoke about one of his passion, Pricing Psychology. So may tips and thoughts to take away.

This months tour event was a visit to a hidden gem of history in Oxfordshire. The tour event was a visit to the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock. A unique collection of how local people and regiments were involved in previous conflicts around the world.

Our speaker at this breakfast was Joe Wythe from Barclays, who spoke on the hot topic of Cyber Crime and Payment Scams.

Today we returned to the tour location of one of our very first venues in 2009/10.
This was the first time we had returned to a venue since we formed the network in 2009, but we were not disappointed. The visit to the Mini Plant in Oxford was once again a fabulous experience. The site continues to develop and the mini brand experience is memorable. A group of 15 members enjoyed a private tour of the production line, visiting the robots in the body shop and the final assembly line, as we followed the route of a new Mini in production. The tour was informative and our host engaging. If you missed this one, then recommend a visit.

The venue on a bright spring morning is perfect the the views across the Oxford skyline.
Our speaker was Tonja Fritz-Johnson, who spoke about her past role with Thames Valley Police and gave her insight to the role of a forensic photographer.

Members of the network were guest of Oxford University Venues today for a tour event of the Oxford Radcliffe Quarter.
We met at the St Luke’s Chapel for refreshments and networking before being taken on a tour of The Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, which is one of the most significant development projects the University of Oxford has undertaken for more than a century. The site is steeped in history, having been the home of Oxford's first hospital. The architectual renovation of the site has included some fantastic buildings including Radcliffe Humanities, which is the refurbished Radcliffe Infirmary building, the Andrew Wiles Building (Mathematical Institute) and the Blavatnik School of Government, but has retained the related characteristics and history.

Once again, we had over 30 attendees for this month's breakfast meeting. The sun was shining across Oxfordshire and our location in Seacourt Tower was perfect for gazing across the Oxford skyline as the sun rose.
Our speaker this month was Kellie Peters, the data rockstar, from Databasix who posed the question 'Is Data Protection your weakest link?' This was a thought provoking session that highlighted how trusting and unassuming we may be and how we perhaps take data security for granted until it is too late. Kellie shared her expertise and case studies to help members ensure they don't fall foul of the current and new data protection regulations.

The Oxford Business Expo
Organised by TOBN and held at Hampden House, Monument Business Park, Chalgrove (the home of our members, Jennings).
The event opened with a networking breakfast in the Picnic Hamper, which was attended by over 40 businesses.
The Expo also included 18 exhibitors and 7 breakout seminars covering a range of topics, all designed to offer support to fellow business owners.
We held a raffle and silent auction in aid of our charity members and raised £515.
The atmosphere was vibrant and the immediate feedback was very encouraging. So much so, that we are already planning Expo'18.

Todays breakfast was again vibrant with over 30 local businesses booked to attend.
Our speaker was member, Robert Seares, of RDS Commercial, who shared his expertise and knowledge to provide an overview of the new commercial property rating system. Robert used the Oxford Monopoly board to demonstrate the impact on some of Oxford's best known premises. The game format was well received, as was the winners bottle of Oxford Landing.
We also supported the Radiothon campaign by Jack FM for our charity member, Helen & Douglas house. The Oxford Cupcake Company Ltd provided some 'Go Orange' cupcakes for the breakfast event and the members donated generously, for a small but delicious cupcake, with the funds donated to the charity.

This month the members enjoyed a tour visit to the JET Fusion project at Culham Science Centre. The visit gave us an overview of Fusion, the journey of research and a tour of the actual facilities. Another great resource locally fuelling our local economic development, which we perhaps take for granted. We also learnt about the future Fusion projects in France / Europe and thoughts for the future, many of a collaborative nature.

Our speaker was Lucy Eckley, who spoke about your brand story. How to attract your ideal customer just by being you. Not only was this informative, but also practical for application on return to the office.

For this months tour / visit, the network visited City Mazes in Oxford. Imagine Crystal maze on TV, well there you have it. Escape games established to really test our networking as we were locked in rooms together for up to one hour!
This was the best attended tour / visit event for a couple of years and the expectations were certainly met by the manager Claire and her team. An excellent visit, enjoyable experience, challenging games and a recommended visit.

We kicked off the new year with another well attended event with members and visitors enjoying the networking. Our speaker this month was Diane West of Clarity Sage, who spoke on the title Marketing, Message, Impact. Diane got us all thinking about our message and outcomes, so that 2017 can be better than 2016. Fantastic topic for the first meeting of the year.

These informal drinks ended another successful year for the network, with new members and some of the initial founders continuing to build strong relationships in support of each other.

Each December, we organise the Oxford Big Business Breakfast for Charity. This year we had 86 attendees and once again the local business community helped us to raise £1,000. Our charity this year was Sobell House Hospice, who organised the speaker, Richard Pitman. Richard, who by his own words had more falls than winners, gave us an insight into horse racing whilst sharing his obvious passion for the sport and all matters associated. The networking was vibrant, the atmosphere great, the speaker engaging and in all an enjoyable event raising monies for a deserving charity.

Once again the feedback from our visitors was excellent and 2 new members joined the network as a result of visiting. Our speaker for this breakfast meeting was Emma Browning, a HR professional, who broke us into small groups to consider how we manage HR in our business.

Our October tour visit, was a re-visit to The Race Hut, Oxford. A 16 seat race simulator experience. Once again it was a fantastic visit and we thank the team at Race Hut for the networking and racing. This time, we took to touring cars at Donnington Park, a particular favourite of our competition winner, Jamie!

The October breakfast meeting saw 25 attendees and a vibrant atmosphere. Our guest speaker was Renee Watson, who shared her passion and enthusiasm for Science. To demonstrate, Renee shared 4 experiments with the group including how to make quick frozen Yogurt using Ice and salt, plus how to make vinegar taste sweet to drink.

The September tour visit was a tour of The Oxford Town Hall. A fabulous, historic building linked with much of the Oxford history. We were lucky that no rooms were in use, so our tour covered the whole building including the museum, the council chambers and also the older rooms when part was a library, dance hall, hospital, police station, court house and jail. The afternoon then ended with a social drink in The Bear Inn in Blue Boar Street.

After the usual lively networking and fantastic breakfast from the caterers at Blake Morgan, we enjoyed a thought provoking presentation titled '7 Pillars of a Painless Business'. After the Summer holidays, this was a perfect topic to help the attendees think about the next quarter and beyond. Celia covered 7 key areas to help you Rock rather than Plod.

This months breakfast meeting was dedicated to extended networking. It is usual for August to be quieter due to holidays, but the attendance was in excess of 20 again and a record number for August in 7 years. The members spend longer networking in the deli area, before each having an extended round table introduction, which included an overview of each persons 'ideal customer'.

Our tour visit in July was to the Global Retreat Centre. The centre at Nuneham House (administered by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University UK) has welcomed thousands of people from across the world. They visit to restore balance and focus to their life through solitude, silence and the study of spiritual values. The house is spectacular and the work of the centre was facinating to learn. Another hidden gem in the Oxfordshire countryside.

This months tour visit was to the Oxford Union, the world's most famous debating society, situated in the heart of Oxford university. The tour started with a tour of the library and old debating chamber to see the various murials. We then visited the debating chamber used today and heard about some of the debates including famous visitors.

Anneli spoke about how to better match a sales discussion with the expectation of your prospects, how to overcome common objections and generally how to close the sale much more effectively. Members were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Cryongenics Laboratory at Harwell. The tour gave us an insight to the world of Cryongencis and how it impacts our world in so many ways. We were also able to question some of the team working on new research projects.

This event was popular with 27 attendees, of which 7 were first time visitors, and there was such a great vibe. Surj shared his experience of collabortive working and demonstrated how £50,000 could be saved with software and technology simply reducing unproductive minutes. A real eye opening presentation.

After the usual networking, cooked breakfast and member introductions, we listened to James share a case study around business succession planning and the benefits of considering such as early as possible. Another thought provoking presentation on an area that will effect us all at some point. Extremelly valuable.

This mornings breakfast saw 24 members and visitors again enjoy a vibrant meeting of TOBN. Our hosts Blake Morgan were again first class with the catering and facilties. Todays speaker was Tony Hendry, who spoke on the topic of 'Helping People to Succeed'. Another thought provoking presentation for the attendees to take away and consider the tips for their own business, management or own performance.

The members and their families were tonight invited to the Ice Hockey in Oxford. Our hosts, Oxford City Stars beat Cardiff Devils 13:0. It was a fantastic evening and very kind hospitality. For many of the members it was a first ever visit to the Ice Hockey or the first for a long time, but I am sure it won't be long until we return and support Ice Hockey in Oxford.

This months tour / visit was to the new Racehut in Pony road, Oxford, who offered the members a racing simulation experience. After an overview of the business, the members took to the track to simulate Touring Car Racing at Brands Hatch.
After a qualification round, the members took to the grid for a couple of competitive but fun races. The experience was won by Matt Wardle, who took prime position on the podium to collect his trophy. This was a great event and an experience recommended by all.

The Oxford Big Business Breakfast
Each December we run a the Big breakfast in aid of charity to support those less fortunate than ourselves at this time of year.
This year the Big Breakfast attracted 95 bookings and has raised in excess of £1500 in aid of the Charity Special Effect.
Our guest speaker was Tim Foster MBE, who was one of the Coxless Four that won Gold at the Sydney Olympics. Not only was his presentation inspirational but very reflective. It was very relevant to the work in our own business, relating his rowing experience to the How, What, Who and Why. It was truly an awesome presentation (no pun intended!)

At todays breakfast meeting, our speaker Melanie Greene, spoke on the subject of Healthy Conflict in the workplace. Melanie demonstrated her vast knowledge and experience in this area and left all the attendees reflecting on their own style and team.
It was fantastic to again see over 20 businesses represented at this breakfast meeting which included six guests highlighting the current interest in the network.

The members were treated to a fantastic tour of The Examination School of Oxford University. In addition to the tour of the various rooms, steeped with history and full of character, we also saw how some of the larger spaces were used for conference facilities.
We were also provided with an overview of the site, its history and how it is used as the examination hub in Oxford for all the colleges. A most facinating tour and recommend a visit should you have the opportunity.
If you hire conference facilities or need a meeting venue, then the Examination School is Oxford's largest conference venue and very well priced for day delegates and meeting rooms.

Once again we had over 20 attendees for another vibrant and motivating breakfast meeting. Although the fog spoiled our usual view of the Oxford Spires, it did not spoil the atmosphere, where those attending enjoyed the usual metworking and speaker. Our speaker today was Les Hines from RPMGI, who gave a very thought provoking presentation on Business Growth and share his findings in this area during some interesting interactive discussions.

For this months tour / vist we returned to the location of our very first event some five years ago. We were hosted by Karl Bushell at Kidlington Table Tennis club, a leading facility for the sport in Oxfordshire. The members enjoyed a few matches and some of the fun challenges / games set up by Karl including use of the smallest table tennis bat in the world (well may be not but it was very small). Champion member was Barry Ross from Crossland Solicitors.

The team consisting of David Cadwallader, Matt Wardle, Paul Hallet and Mike Foster won the 9 hole texas scramble in the morning (2nd year running) but the afternoon was more eventful and not so successful. However an enjoyable day in aid of a great charity

A team from membership gave up their Sunday to help lay a paved patio for Sobell House Hospice. The weather was not kind and it rained most of the time, but the team went aove and beyond by also weeding the flower beds and existing paths.

Today the network enjoyed a social event at Kidlington Bowls Club. A great event with the opportunity to network in a more social environment whilst trying our hand at green bowls. Although there were a few stray balls, the standard was quite impressive and a little competitive at times. The weather remained kind on a typical English Summer evening when the rain threatened.

What a beautiful Summers morning for another great breakfast meeting.
The view across Oxford was again spectacular as we enjoyed the early morning networking on the balcony of the 3rd floor of Seacourt tower.
Our speaker for this months breakfast was Young Enterprise. This is a fantastic programme that gives people from the world of business the opportunity to contribute to education. We were given some examples and shown samples of the business established by some schools. If you get the chance to see the 2014 national winners, then it is recommended.

We were lucky enough to witness a ballet performance on arrival and also hear a moving explanation of music therapy from one of the patients.
Again this was a really insightful tour and I am personally so pleased I attended. I entered the front door slightly nervous, quiet and perhaps worried how I would speak to people who were not in good health. As I left I found myself feeling totally different about such an environment and pleased to say that Sobell House is not a stereo typical hospice that you may imagine.
If you have the opportunity to visit, then can I encourage you to accept.

The breakfast meeting today was the first of the new membership year and it was great news to see that 88% of the members agreed to invest a further years membership.
The speaker at todays breakfast meeting was Angie Major of Blueberry Business Support, who spoke on the subject of Running Your Business in the Cloud. Angie shared her favourite application and cloud based solutions before deminstrating her knowledge with the Xero accounting software product.

This afternoon the members were treated to a most excellent tour of the iconic Sheldonian theatre in Oxford. We had an excellent, knowledgeable and informative guide who took us around the Sheldonian Theatre and local building of Oxford University.
The tour finished with a visit to the attic and cupola for a most superb view of the Oxford spires.

Again over 20 people enjoyed our breakfast meeting in Oxford. Not many were distracted by the May Day celebreations in Oxford City, but we did enjoy a fantastic view across the Oxford Spires from our hosts offices in Seacourt Tower.
The speaker today was Sylvia Baldock, who spoke on the subject of Personal Presence. Sylvia shared her 30 years experience with us and got everyone involved with two great exercises. Sylvia opened with the statement "Be seen, Be Heard, Be Heard of and Remembered long after you have left". She shared her thoughts around how we are all UNIQUE and left us with a fabulous thought "Your Smile is your logo, your Personality is your business card and how you leave people feeling is your Trademark".

The members were today treated to a fantastic tour of Millets Farm Centre. After an overview of the history and the business model, we were taken on a tour of the many different areas of this customer focused location. The farm shop, restaurant, childrens play area, animal area, lakes, garden centre, the maze, the falconry centre and pick your own. We also learnt the benefits of working in collaboration with other areas of the site to make the centre an overall fantastic visitor attraction.

Tonight we we provided with tour at Oxford Brookes University. This visit was combined with an insightful lecture from Professor Sir Clive Booth who was appointed Director of Oxford Polytechnic in 1986. During his time, an institutional transformation took place, from a polytechnic supported by the county council to a fully fledged university. Sir Clive reflected on this times and gave us a very informative lecture that combined with the tour made this a very enjoyable visit.

The members today visited the offices of Oxfam in Oxford. We were delighted to be advised that we were the first business network group to have visited Oxfam house on Oxford Business park. The visit included a tour of the office, a short presentation and a round table discussion about the charities new business alliance programme.
It was surprising to many members how much more work the charity actually do across the globe beyond what they are perhaps best known for. A fantastic visit.

Another great breakfast with another good number in attendance and a wonderful speaker. Sam Lipscombe, 156th Brit to summit Mount Everest, shared his experience and photos together with the link of achieving our goals.

This Christmas breakfast was slightly different, as we organised the Oxford Big Business Breakfast in aid of the charity, Headway, Oxfordshire.
Over 50 people attended to enjoy the usuall good networking, before listening to an excellent presentation from the Charity. http://www.headwayoxford.org.uk/
It was opened by CEO, Jamie Miller, who asked us to consider a few questions such as our fondest memory, our favourite taste, but most relevant how we got to the event. Although the response was car or bike, Jamie expanded to demonstrate we did much more than that to think, plan and prepare before even leaving the house. This was then linked to suddenly suffering a brain injury and perhaps not having the memory, taste or abilities to plan. A very emotive and powerful presentation enjoyed by all that attended.
We hope to have raised £1000, thanks to the attendees and in part match funded by Barclays for the personal fund raising effort of Rob Wilkinson, local business banking manager.

She got us thinking about our Market, Message and Media used to promote of offering. The archivist, Michael Riorden, gave the members a insightful presentation of the history of the college and took many questions of interest. Helen from Orchard House IFA's gave a very thought provoking presentation on the importance of considering ourselves as much as our business. Looking at the facts we insure our assets but not always ourselves.

Today the members were given a behind the scenes, no stone unturned, tour of the Sanctuary residential and care home in Iffley. The feedback was fantastic and changed many perceptions about care facilities. Three floors of rooms, many social areas, friendly staff and some lovely residents were experienced. We were shown the areas used by residents, but also the kitchens, offices and laundry room. An exceptional commitment to a standard and focus on cleanliness was observed. Recommended.

The Oxford Business Network is built around the theme of 'people buy people', so this months breakfast meeting was a more lighted hearted event that provided each attendee with a further opportunity to get to know their fellow members. Along the theme of 'Would I lie to you' and 'Call my bluff' the group split up to consider a statement from each individual and establish if it was Fact or Fib. A great activity organised by member, Mayy Wardle.

Today we were invited to meet the team at the charity, Headway Oxfordshire, who support people affected by acquired brain injury, across the county. Although part of a national network, the Oxfordshire branch is a stand alone, local charity doing some excellent work and with great plans.
As well as having a tour of the premises in Kennigton, following a presentation we discussed ways in which members of the network can work in collaboration with the charity offering our skills and knowledge.
The members were also motivated to consider a group activity and fund raising event.

We are delighted to hold our meetings at the offices of Blake Lapthorn. The view over the Oxford spires this time of year is most spectacular. This was our first meeting at the Oxford office since the exciting merger, which results in the law firm now being known as Blake Morgan.

The members visited Windsor for a night at the races. A good number of the members and partners, travelled over to Windsor Racetrack for the first Monday night race meeting of the season. An enjoyable social event, although the tips could have been better!

Todays breakfast meeting saw another good number of attendees including many members that have renewed their membership and more new visitors.
Our speaker for the event was member, Tim Halfhead, who shared his experience and knowledge of working for Auditel to discuss the topic of cost management under the title of 'Are your profits draining away'. This was a thought provoking presentation for all members.

We were lucky enough today to have a guided tour of the Ashmolean Museum by the Head of Exhibitions, Agnes Valencak. The tour included an overview of the new exhibit 'Cezanne and the modern'.

Our latest breakfast saw another good number of members and visitors. Our speaker this month was Grant Hayward of Collaborent who shared his expertise and knowledge with a talk under the heading of 'Growing your business through collaboration'. This presentation was inspirational and thought provoking. The members are looking to combine their resource and support a project in the near future.

The Oxford Business Network Member, Nikhilesh Haval was the speaker for todays breakfast meeting.
Nikhilesh has a close working relationship with Google as a 360 Tour producer and demonstrated his knowledge of Google places and search rankings with an informative presentation to the members and visitors. Feedback was 'excellent'.

The members were given a presentation and tour of Oxford Science Park, including the origins, history, environmental considerations and plans for the future.
Many of us drive past on the A4074 many times a year and it was truly interesting to hear some of the background to the partnership between Magdalen college and Prudential in the development and growth of the park.
We were also shown the Magdalen centre and Sadler building, which non tenants can use or hire meeting space.

This latest tour event, took us to the historic site of the old Oxford Prison.
It is now the most beautiful Malmaison hotel.
We were taken on a tour around the hotel to view the conversion, listen to the history and view many of the areas that have been so perfectly converted from the visitors room (now a lounge bar) to the cells (bedrooms). We also saw the comparison of an old cell, as it was when it was ran as a prison, to now how 3 cells have been converted to luxurious bedrooms. The tour, which finished with refreshements in the bar, left the members all thinking, when can I book!

Another well attended breakfast hosted by Blake Lapthorn. Our speaker was Simon Oswin from Spires Consulting, who are a
Performance consultancy - helping organisations to select suitably talented people, spot
and develop future leadership potential and enhance their bottom line by creating a culture of high performance.
Simon gave us a thought provoking presentation on whether our people are assets or liabilities and how we contribute to this. He covered areas including people, performance, Psychometrics, Potential and Predicting.

Our first meeting in the new year was focused on members one to one meetings and extended introductions. People buy people and with a greater understanding of each other business, we are able to generate cross referrals to fellow members.

The members were delighted to receive a tour of Oxford Instruments at Tubney Woods. After seeing the corporate video, the members were taken on a tour of the premises and had the opportuniy to see a number of projects including magnets in preparation.
Their business is 'the business of science'. Ouir members were surprised just how much the business is involved in much of the technology we see today.

'Are you fit for business'. Barry Grinham, an experienced and respected personal trainer gave us a light hearted look at our personal health.
we were challenged why many business owners have strategies for their business, sales, marketing, etc but no such plan for themselves.
We also saw how healthy eating and exercise (no not all gym based) can help improve our personal performance in the workplace.

'A woman scourned' was the theme of the presentation at todays breakfast meeting from our hosts and speakers, Blake Lapthorn Solicitors. The speakers provided details of a case study that linked the defence of a businessman who was caught drink driving, seperating from his girlfriend and the complications linked to this from the perspective of the house they shared, the business shares he had given her and her rights as an employee.
A thought provoking link of all the areas of law in which Blake Lapthorn expertly support their clients.

We were able to enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the Oxford Thames Four Pillars hotel in Sandford on Thames. This is truly a delightful venue, with a great atmosphere and the rooms in the new extension with a garden or river theme and the college hall bedrooms are truly beautiful. Part of the new extension is the new Bistro type area, where you can drop in for Afternoon tea or a coffee and relaxation or work. The design is nothing short of awesome and used the old courtyard space perfectly.
We were also able to meet the team behind the scenes, including the chefs preparing for an event that evening. Truly organised for so many covers.
Definately recommend this hotel and shame we live so close to justify staying there so much!

Thanks to member, Paul Mabbutt for helping organise a great breakfast meeting this morning at the Jennings, Monument park site.
It is a lovely location and of excellent appearance.
After another superb breakfast in the Picnic Hamper http://www.thepicnichamper.co.uk/, we were kindly hosted by Simon Bayley for a spot of 'nearest the pin' competition using the golf simulators at Golf Tech http://www.golftechsystems.com/ or had the option to experience the Batman movie in High Definition surround sound. In my opinion, this was a great meeting and demonstrates the different way we approach networking at The Oxford Business Network.

Another fantastic tour, this time of the Oxford Childrens Hospital.
We enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the hospital, plus an experience of some of the front line work in the wards. This is a special place and one which we should be thankful to have on our doorstep. The design is so thoughtful of all the family, but especially the poorly children. From the wards and play areas to parent rest rooms and school. Amazing to hear and see the details of what was considered when designing a functional but enjoyable environment.

For this years Summer drinks, we visited the George at Littllemore, ran by a potential member, Nigel Woodley. It was the first rain in many days, but the weather did not dampen the networking and enjoyment of catching up with other members in an informal way whilst enjoying some light refreshment.

A number of the members enjoyed a round of golf at North Oxford Golf Club.
The non-competitive visit was won by David Cadwallader of Shaw Gibbs.
The forecast was terrible, but in fact held out until the 16th, so nearly perfect. The course was in excellent condition.

Our breakfast meeting speaker was Mike Foster from GH Safety who spoke on the corrolation between an effective H&S management system to our day to day business planning, then gave a demonstration of First Aid and Basic Life Support.

The members and guest from Didcot Chamber, enjoyed a tour of Asda'a distribution centre at Milton Park. The tour was hosted by the Operations Manager, Chris Betts, who have a most informative talk during the tour to explain the ease at which Asda manage the complex logistics of receiving supplies, orders from stores and distribution so that the local shelves are full. We also learnt how the business manages peak times such as Christmas or periods when product demand changes such as in the hot weather.
It was also interesting to learn the culture at Asda, the management of their people and performance and also simply seeing first hand the size of the operations.

Members enjoyed an behind the scenes match day experience at London Welsh Rugby. The great day started with a tour of the Kassam, including the changing room, drug testing area and pitch side. We then joined members of the clubs 71 club for a hospitality and lunch. Unfortunatley the match vs Northampton Saints was not the right outcome for the club to cap a memorable day with the club.

Lee Rudd from CIS, took us on the journey of 'Embracing Technology' looking at technology through the years since 1970, reviewing some of the useful apps we can use for the benefit of our business and also an overview of how 'cloud computing' can make a difference to the way we work today.

The Oxford Business Network Coordinator, Mike Foster, spoke on the Maximise your networking & generate referrals. Mike presented his thoughts based on his many years experience in networking, whilst highlighting that networking is not simply about the next breakfast meeting.
In a short workshop style presentation we looked at who is in our ideal network, what does our business really offer, our 60 sec pitch and ways we can be proactive in generating referrals.

A tour of London Oxford Airport
We were lucky enough to be given a behind the scenes tour of the airport at Kidlington by James Dillon-Godfray, the business development Director. From starting in the plush new departures lounge, we then were taken on a tour of the airport. We saw many planes and helicopters, the emergency services centre, other businesses on the site and finally we were privalged to be invited onto the owners private jet.

A tour of Silverstone race circuit
Starting from the new innovation centre, the Managing Director of Silverstone took us on a minibus tour of the site. We saw the old pit lane and the brand new conference centre and pit lane. We were taken into the garages to see some of the cars up close and stopped to watch the Porchse testing area being put through its paces.

The The Oxford Business Network Golf day 2011
A dozen played the course at North Oxford Golf Club in fine weather.
The course was in great condition and for most of us it was an enjoyable round of golf scored using stableford rules.
The event winner was Jim Moore of Chapman Robinson & Moore accountants.

Today is renewal day and we are pleased to announce that every member is renewing again this year, which shows the value of the network.
There is no longer considered the requirement for a committee and the network will continue to be lead and admiistered by Mike Foster
